Binghamton University, the State University of New York, University Ombudsman

Reporting directly to the President of Binghamton University, the State University of New York, the University Ombudsman serves as the designated neutral, conflict management resource for faculty, staff, and students of the University.

The Ombudsman provides confidential, impartial, and informal assistance to individuals and groups in the University community. The role of the Ombudsman includes, but is not limited to, assisting with the resolution of a variety of sensitive conflicts and concerns; providing advice and guidance on the interpretation of policies and procedures; and providing policy analysis and feedback to senior university officials. The Ombudsman is responsible for conducting outreach and education, and maintaining awareness of the Office on campus. The Office of the University Ombudsman operates according to the International Ombudsman Association (IOA) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, and the Ombudsman will be expected to remain professionally active by attending conferences and continuing education.
